A hello from Sydney!
It's been a really amazing couple of days! Never been anywhere with just the little sister before. Never stayed at a hotel alone before. A lot of firsts. But good firsts! It was sunny the first day here, rained all day yesterday. Today's a bit gloomier, but it's pretty none the less. I'm currently staying at the Manly Paradise Beachfront Motel & Apartments which is literally across the road from the beach! The waves are sensational! Of course it's too cold to go anywhere near the water. But there are surfer boys doing what they do best, regardless of the cold: surfing and being eye-candy for girls like me :)

The View from my Room

Went yesterday to get a few things for Ramizah's room. A printer, some shoes, and all the things that I brought for her from Melbourne. To get to the city and back, you have to go on a ferry. I call it the Ferry Ride of Death. It's fine until you get to the swells and then you literally feel like your heart is going to pop out of your chest. It's not scary, but everytime the ferry goes over a swell, you get these butterflies. I clutched on to Ramizah with her laughing at me during the swell-y time.

Dinner last night with Ramizah's friends. All very friendly. Have the tick of big sister approval! She's off at uni now. I'm sitting in my room, attempting to get some work done. Went for a walk this morning and took more pictures. Clearly, work is not progressing as much as I'd like it to. But I will not give up! The plan is to get more work done before Ramizah comes down for dinner and chilling. Because l's be real here, once that happens, the chances of any work getting done is unbelievably slim.

Yes I realise it has been almost a month since I last updated. But that's how busy I've been. Assignments have ruled my life for the past 3 weeks. But as of Monday this week, I am assignment-free! And it seems that my entire BND class has decided to use this week to do nothing and celebrate the end of the craziness.

I thought I would too, until I realised I have so many other things going on from now until exams that I can't afford a whole week off. But I am going karaoke-ing with them tomorrow! Or rather I will be the photographer as they all sing their hearts out. Pictures of people singing is always funny.

In other news, I'm going to Sydney on Saturday!! WOOTS! To see the little sister. Ensure that she is alright, help her buy a few more uni things and to chill! I already went to today to buy the Korean noodles she's asked me for. Baby sister being a baby sister. Once in awhile they need to feel pampered by their older siblings. This is one of those times.

Okay, back to studying! Will update again when procrastination kicks in.

Finally, PHN is over. And you'd think I'd go home and celebrate. No no no.
This is how it all went down.

Went to the library the day before it was due, stayed there till about 7pm. Went home, had dinner. Ate in literally 10 mins. Continued to do assignment. 5am - finally went to bed. Yeah, I know. My plan to finish it by midnight failed epicly.

Got up the next day at 7am, accompanied a friend to uni. It was his first time so didn't want him to get lost. Went to watch some 4th year major case presentation to get an idea of what next year brings and simultaneously scare myself about how much information I need to know in less than a year.

Went with the girls to Footscray for our cooking class. Barely survived through that. Went to have a coffee with one of the girls in the city after. Went home. Had dinner. Sat in front of TV. Fell asleep on Mich's chair. Woke up. Washed plate. Went to room to talk to Aisha, fell asleep at 10pm. Shocking. Parents called at 11, no idea what I said or what they said. Replacement call morning after.

And you'd think, you'd think, after all that, I could breathe a little. You're wrong! Another due in a couple of days, 2 due next week. 3 reflections due at the end of may and a huge one due on the 31st. Then...exams on the 21st.

Dubai, you'll never know how much I want to get to you.
I hope everyone else's May goes better.

DIE PHN DIE!
Stupid ass assignment for Public Health Nutrition has taken over my life. The past few days I've woken up in the middle of the night several times panicking. Literally. I would wake up experiencing what seems to be a combination of panic and anxiety attacks! And when I'd be falling asleep or half asleep, that's all that I can think and then my brain refuses to sleep.

STOOOOOPID ASSIGNMENT! It's unreal how much research and work needs to be done for this thing.
Who would have ever thought that inanimate objects could take such control and exert such fear and panic into us. That we are willing to stress, do copious amounts of work and sacrifice sleep for a piece of paper with a grade on it.

IT SHALL BE FINISHED TODAY! I refuse to do it past midnight tonight! REFUSE!

Yesterday in an effort to finish up one of the largest assignments I have ever had, I stayed back at the library after class until the boys were finished with their football training. I was exhausted, my head was hurting, I was hungry, I was drenched from the rain, freezing my ass off and truly believed nothing could happen to make my day better. And just as I was about to rip apart my laptop, I remembered that someone had their TV interview the night before. So I went to the TV channel's facebook page to read about the interview.

When I got to the page, there was an update about the show. It wasn't complete so I followed the link to finish reading about the experience that I so badly wanted to be there for. When the page opened, I literally jumped in my chair and have never in my life tried so hard not to squeal. I didn't think it would be appropriate to be squealing and jumping around in a library. Want to know why?

Because when the page opened, not only was the end of the article there. But there was a video of the show!!!!
Imagine my excitement! My heart skipped a beat! It literally made my day. I was so upset that all my friends in Dubai went together to watch the showing and to be able to watch it now, to be able to watch his first time interviewed on TV. Interviewed about something he's worked so hard for and so passionate about. The level of happiness I felt at that moment was indescribable!

For all of the video, I sat at the cubicle smiling deliriously, looking like a complete fool and truly thankful for the walls of the cubicle protecting me from the other people in the library. I couldn't scream or laugh or call people and share the excitement! So instead, I went online and virtual screamed to him.

I'm so proud of you.You've sacrificed so much for this. I know this more than anyone. I know the stress you've been under. I know how much you've worked for this. This is the first of many many times that you can prove those people wrong. Those people who didn't believe in you. People who should have stood by you and instead turned the other way.

So to you, CONGRATULATIONS! I can't wait to get back and re-celebrate with you! I'm so proud of you babe.

Trust. To have faith in others and to believe them.

That's what wikipedia defines. Such a simple word, such a simple meaning. What it doesn't tell you about are all the other things that go along with the word trust. It's really not a simple thing to do. It needs to be earned. It needs to be maintained. It can be broken with one small action. Of course there are different levels of trust but the minute you say you trust someone, you've created a bond. Of course, there are different levels of trust. But you expect certain things from that person regardless.

You expect them to have your back, you expect them to keep secret things that you tell them, you expect them to be there for you, you expect them to tell you things upfront, you expect them to be more than just an acquaintance. You believe the words they tell you. The promises. With some people, you can easily say you put your life in their hands. You know that no matter what, they will stick to their word. That's what trust is.

Seems simple enough right? Sure. When you first trust someone, it may come easy. It may be something that just comes naturally. But the minute they screw that up, the minute they decide that bond is not as important as it used to be, the minute they forget what it means, that's when everything turns messy. All the definitions in the world don't tell you about the emotional baggage one carries to 'trust'. The hurt, the betrayal, the disappointment. No one ever mentions that. And yet, that's all you can think about, all you can feel.

And once that bond has been broken once, it take so much work and so much time to get it back. A lot of the time, you can never trust that person fully. Ever again. So don't screw it up. Don't give that bond an opportunity to fall apart.

Back from Brisbane and as brown as ever! Yeah I realise I've probably said that a million times over already, but I'm so happy. 6 days of tanning, no burning and a beautiful olive brown! I LOVE QUEENSLAND!
We did so much travelling though. To which I owe Garnet the world. Late nights, really early mornings! But naps on the beach of course helped heaps! It was so sunny the whole time I was there. Rained the very last day, I took it as a goodbye from Brissy. We met some wonderful people during our trip and I met Garni's amazing friends. So friendly and just make you as comfortable as if they'd known you for years! And kudos to Dan for his famous curry dip!
Back to uni. Not super happy about it. But oh well. Part and parcel of life isn't it.

I've told myself for weeks now that I MUST remember to turn back my phone and my room clock back an hour the day I go to Brisbane, because that's when daylight savings ends and we gain an hour. Which means that I would've gotten an extra hour to sleep.

But somehow, in my exhausted state yesterday, all that went out the window. And here I am, 5:20am in the morning, dressed and ready to go...and still have another hour before having to leave for the airport. Ridiculous!
I'm mostly annoyed because an extra hour would have helped A LOT. Especially since I haven't been sleeping well.

Will just have to sleep on the plane and in the bus on the way to the airport.

Upside? In about 5 hours, I will be in Brisbane with Garnet!!! So exciteddd! Pictures galore.

1 day until presentation. 3 days until Easter break. 6 days until Brisbaneee!!! So excited!

Finally, after living [excluding Dubai] in the same country for close to 4 years, I'm going to see Garnet in Brisbane! When we first went off to uni, we were so excited that we would be in the same country, we were going to visit each other all the time. Every break! Yeah..that didn't happen. We both had our different lives I guess. But I think over the last winter break, we became so much closer and we've been so good at keeping in touch. Weekly calls, msn chats, skype. And NOW, a holiday!!

It took sooo much to plan this one week trip. We realised what douches rentals places could be. We realised that our planning skills are quite amazing. And we realised, msn chats are much better than phone calls..when planning trips which require a lot of talking and credit time :P

But now finally, the time has come! and in 6 days I shall be with Garni travelling, gossiping, embarking on many adventures and hopefully getting tanned [please please let the sun be out! just for the week!]

Now I need to prepare for my presentation tomorrow. The first of many to come this semester. Joy.

Early morning wake up tomorrow. Hope it'll happen.

Oh! And Turkish dinner tomorrow with my ethnic group people! WOOTs.

So the cooking class went quite smoothly. I only sliced my hand a couple of times but neither deep enough to draw blood. Thank God. We did all the different kinds of cuts and how to sharpen knives. I can proudly say that I am now an expert at sharpening knives with a steel rod. Just like the masterchefs *beams*. Thankfully, everyone was either too excited or really wanted to go home to take any pictures. However, my mum keeps asking for pictures. So I got back to my aunts and took a couple. Those of you who read this are lucky enough to see these pictures, for they will never go on facebook :)

Also, last night, Munster 2.0 had its housewarming. Em, Jace, Dee, Eunice & I went over for a couple of hours (so lovely to catch up with everyone! We must do it always!) So different without P and Jovan though. But the food was YUM [kudos to Yihaur for his awesome BBQ-ing skills & to Quinn for yummy avacado salad!] and the weather was perfect and the view was ORGASMIC. Their house has this amazing feature, their massive window in the living room, which goes from ceiling to floor completely opens up to the balcony. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Only a couple of pics because I was really not bothered.

Tomorrow, we have our first cooking class at Victoria Uni as part of our course. It's quite exciting. Proper huge kitchen and everything. We even have to wear the full chef's uniform. Hat, scarf and all. We're all going to look so glamorous. Hopefully pictures dont go flying all over Facebook.

All New Things

I've wanted to change the look of the blog for awhile now. And yesterday, I DID IT! :)

The only reason it took so long is simply that I am completely clueless about these things [Emily can totally confirm that]. So yesterday while adding the LuShae Jewellery badge, I decided might as well. The pink was getting on my nerves. And I found this one with the Gerbera on it. LOVEEEE Gerberas! PERFECTION.

So to continue with new things:

Uni has begun. Classes have been quite interesting. Putting future career into much more perspective. Starting to do more application. Yesterday in my last class, I thought back to my first year and how boring every single one of the classes were. How it would take so much effort to stay awake. But now, its just so interesting. We do more class activities, which probably helps with the no sleeping.

Along with all that, I've started to experience some REALLY strange dreams. Not just 'hmm, what was that?' kinda dreams. But full on, WHAT THE HELL?! Of the few people I've told, they have laughed, asked me to get out of their bed and basically now think I'm crazy. The most recent happened last night. I had a dream, I started to analyse the dream WHILE still dreaming (?!@!?!@ right?!) and then woke up because my brain probably realised something wasn't right. It was 6:30am and I couldn't fall back asleep. It was hilarious!

So, here's to more new things happening this year. Hopefully, a little more normal than the dreams. But nothing to normal, where's the excitement there? :)

Been back in Melbourne for a few days now. The jetlag is not wearing off. Not one bit. So I'm asleep when everyone is awake and I'm awake at the weirdest hours of the night. The weather has been quite good. A little gloomy but the temperature has been realllyyyy good. Well below 30. And there's wind and everything. I realise in a couple of months I'll be complaining about how my fingers and toes are falling off :P

Uni officially starts tomorrow. But not for me!!! I start on Tuesday. And yes, it sounds like such a petty thing to be excited about, but I've never NEVER had a day off in all my years at uni. So I will be as excited as heck to have Mondays off.

Housemates all arrive back tomorrow afternoon, so I'll move back in then. Moving back in all alone would have been depressing. So excited to see them again. Must definitely take a heck of a lot more housematey pictures.

So it's almost 5am here in Singapore. Can't sleep because jetlag is taking its toll. But that alright, if I'm super tired tomorrow I can fall asleep on the plane. Hopefully not at the hairdressers beforehand tho. Disaster.

Didn't blog at all my entire time in Dubai. But thats a good sign. Was having a brilliant time. Also means this one's going to be a long one. Really got close to some new people and closer to old friends. Ate so much food I reckon I'm set for the year. Hurt like hell to leave all the people and the family of course. Time does not make it easier to leave home. It hurts just the same every single time. Obviously not the bawling baby I was the very first trip away, but still. Always keep reminding myself that it makes me a stronger person, insha'Allah.

Anyway... really excited for a certain someone and what the future holds!!! Boy, I want full updates no matter what happens! Don't leave me squirming in my chair for too long! Praying that everyone has an amazing year and many many more to come. And that you guys take care of yourselves and each other until I'm back :)

I really appreciated the 3 people I spent the most time with outside of the family in my last 2 weeks. They have the most beautiful souls in the world. So happy, caring, honest & most of all, loving. They really made my holiday as complete as it could have ever been. Constantly there for me regardless of the time that I've known them...years, weeks. I miss you guys more than you can ever imagine. I'm so grateful that I got to spend all that time with you guys. Can't wait till I see ya'll again!!!

The family was amazing, as usual. No one could replace them and the love they have for us in their hearts. Never ever underestimate the importance of family. Cherish it with every fibre of your being. Cry when you need to, laugh whenever you can, talk things out, scream things out. Whatever it is, they're always there for you. They love you AND your flaws. Parents do everything and anything for their children. We are who they think of first when they make any decisions, when they wake up in the morning, when they eat dinner. We're always on their minds. Do we treat them with the same special treatment? Do we always act so selflessly? Thank you Ayah & Ibu for everything you've ever done for us. For sacrificing so much for us. Never in my life would we ever trade you for anyone else. You've raised us to be amazing children. We love you unconditionally and would do anything for you. We'll be there for you no matter what you decide because it's about time we start sacrificing for you.

With a day left before flying to Melbourne, I get a little nauseous inside every time I think about going back to my life there. I love my friends, uni, my apartment, but nothing could ever be better than being at home with family. Being all alone at home feels so different to being all alone at home in Melbourne. A different kind of loneliness sets in. A different silence. One that makes you ache. But I went there to study and experience as many things as possible, and by God, that's what I'm going to do.

After a few days of running around, I finally got to stay home tonight! I sound like a grandma I know, but seriously, we've been out EVERY night trying to meet people before we leave.
Tonight, the kids from Aussie came to stay over. We had an AMAZING Korean BBQ. So nice. And so full.
Now as I check my email, they're all lying on the mattresses in front of the TV watching 40 Year Old Virgin. Either asleep or quickly on their way there. Even the brother-in-law is lying half asleep on the floor. Everyone is satisfied and full. SUCCESS.
In all the excitement, no one remembered to take any pictures. LOL.

Tomorrow, we're going to Kak Farah's place for lunch - Kak Maya will be there TOO! - then dinner at Auntie Azizah's. Being fed by a famous restauranteur - very excited! Will try my hardest to take picturesss! Will post a couple on here, and the rest on facebook! :)

Hope everyone had an amazing Christmas Eve & Day! Had dinner with Aunt Sally & Stacy last night at Secret Kitchen. An intimate dinner. Loved it.

Just got back from Bali. A beautiful beautiful place with the most amazing food in the world. We stayed at a hotel just across the road from Kuta Beach, a different setting to the first time we went years ago. It was simply gorgeous. There's no other way to describe it. The weather was warm during the day but the breeze in the morning and at night by the pool made up for all of it.
The food was sooo scrumptious. So spicy that your body screams in pain but it's so delicious you just can't stop.

I of course was unable to go surfing or swimming for all of the holiday. GRR. Always happens when we go for a beach holiday. But it's okay, because then there would be no one to take pictures. So I was the official camera man for the holiday. Which is the reason there aren't very many pictures of myself -_-

The people were so friendly it made me want to cry at times. They have such an optimistic way about themselves even in times of hardship. They're always smiling and so unbelievably polite and loving. A special thanks to Nardi for showing us the loveliest time and to his family who were so sweet.

All in all, an incredible holiday and a fantastic way to celebrate our 3 day wedding fiasco that we pulled off without a hitch. Everything went so smoothly. If I were to say there wasn't any panic, I'd be lying, but every obstacle thrown our way we beat down with a large bat.

To everyone who attended the wedding events, a huge thank you. We appreciate every single person that came to celebrate with us. A very very special thanks to the families, on Mum & Dad's sides. We really couldn't have done it without you and frankly, it wouldn't have been as fun.

A HUMUNGOUS thank you to Fatimah and her crew - I can honestly say NOTHING would have happened the way it did if it weren't for your professionalism, your caring manner and your attention to detail and to the bride & groom. We'll definitely look you up in the future and keep in touch until then.

Finally, a GIGANTIC CONGRATULATIONS to the newly married couple - Arfian Abu & Radiah Rizal - I wish you all the love, happiness, rolling on the floor laughter & an infinite number joyfully married years. I love you both YAARRR :)

I've been home for about a week now. And it's been incredible.
The house is a little empty, Mum & Ramizah are back in Singapore, so Dad & I are bonding. Which has been nice. I've had to keep myself busy during the day though. Being a house-daughter is tiring.

So far...

- the weather has been AMAYZING. There is no other way to describe it except PERFECTION. It gets hot during the day but bearable. And at night... *sigh*.
- spent ALOT of time with Shal, chilling & catching up BIG TIME. She's awesome. Always always always able to cheer me up.
- Warren came back last night. Just got home from some much needed bondage. Best company tonight. Haven't laughed so hard in AGES. Well worth the craziness of the daytime. And bebeh, I'm no longer angry at you. Well I was never angry, just really pissed and frustrated. But you came and it was hard to stay angry innit.
- having the car at my disposal is AWESOME. But I do miss the mumeh. Home is not the same. Very strange.
- barely taken any photos. FAIL.
- haven't gone to the beach. Double FAIL.
- has not had shawarma! EPIC FAIL.

So far, that's what's been going on. Leave for Singapore in a few days to start wedding madness! WOOTS.
And I get to see uni people!! ROSAAAA 2 WEEKS!

THE HEAT IS DEATHLY.

The weather is pms-ing. It's so hot during the day it's unbelievable. It's only 35 degrees but it feels like the middle of summer in Dubai. You don't feel like doing anything at all. Just wanting to lie on a bed of ice. *sigh*

And then at night, it gets nice and chilly. PMS MUCH MELBOURNE?!

Al-Hassan Al-Shaibani.

What does one really know about Al Hassan?
Tis a complex yet simple question.

He is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get kinda person. But at the same time, you also experience a 'he-did-not-just-say-that' reaction. And most of the time, I have the latter reaction to many things he says and does. BUT that's a good thing.

The first time I met him, he was by far THE shy-est boy I had ever met. Probably shy-er because he was in our house for the first time. Shat yourself much that day?
After many trips to DFC from DIS, he loosened up [teehee] and thats when his true colours shone through. He's such a sweet and caring homosapien with such wit and sarcasm that all you can think is, can life get any better than this? Because of that thought, we are now a betrothed couple. Now, RamRam, I know you're shocked and all, but you know the LURRVEE is just too strong.

While I was thinking of what to write and chatting to friends, this is what my future husband thought appropriate to message: "I thought you were proper menstruating all over that blog with emotions and stuff".

I was going to write up a whole bunch of quotes from our unbelievably entertaining conversations, but that would be going against our ONE VERY IMPORTANT rule, wouldn't it honey? ;)

All jokes aside, I'm quite happy that he is in my life. All thanks to DIS and RamRam. He has kept me quite entertained and even at this early stage in our fr-elation-ship, he has such a charming way about him that I feel like I can trust him with anything. Not very many people who get there that fast. I'm proud of you LUVERR.

I stayed up last night, not because I wanted to, but because I couldn't sleep.
Maybe it was the added stress of what I had just found out.
Sleeping pills are too addictive, so I'm not planning on going down that road. EVER.
Tea makes me want to get up and pee 5 times in the middle of the night.
Calming music freaks me out when I'm trying to sleep - it makes me feel like I'm in a horror movie and any minute, the music will change and someone will attempt to kill me. (REALLY not the best way to get to sleep)

Best way to sleep?
To figure all my shit out BEFORE bedtime. Now the only problem with that is...what happens when the shit happens at bedtime. Then what? *sigh*

I'm finally well.
Spent last night at Kak Ina's place to celebrate her turning a year older. Had pancakes this morning. Came home. Studied. Went to Coles. Got groceries. Now writing on blog. Productive? Not quite. LOL.

It's been a strange few days. Nothing strange has really happened. But I'm not feeling like myself. Something feels weird. Not good weird. I don't know what it is. I wish Aisha was here to talk this out with me. Figure out what the hell is wrong. Don't want to whine to anyone here, everyone has exams. Whining wouldn't be on top of the list of things to entertain.

Visit from home in a couple of days. Can't wait for that. Can't wait for the cuddles and the bitching. Need to study ass off tomorrow and the next day so can slack abit on the weekend.

Oh. Also. Had chocolate mud cake with ice-cream last night. Yum.

It's that time of year again. AWESOME.
And to start it all off, my body decided to go into shutdown mode and adopt a little pet called the viral infection. So I'm finally starting to feel a little better, halfway through my anitbiotics. I've already finished a whole box of neurophen. Hmm.

Anyhows, just a quickie.
Went to Dubai during my spring break. For about a week or so. It was probably the best spring break ever. So many things happened in the time I was back. Got to spend Raya with the whole family for the last time, because in a couple of months, we will have a new addition to the family. Excitementtt! E.B. had his first performance, an opening. It was such an unforgettble night. The company, the performance, EVERYTHING. Of course the ride back home at the end of the night was a major plus =D

Now begins the countdown to the first exam. And soon after that, the countdown to the last exam and my trip back to Dubai. Bonding time with my Dad for 2 weeks. Then we jet off to Singapore to start what I believe is going to be the most memorable time in Singapore EVER.

If only the next few weeks could go by with a little more ease .... but I also wish it could go by a little slower... God only knows we could all use it.

So here are a some things I've learnt in the past month: -
1. Moving SUCKS!
2. Putting together furniture [even an office chair] ALWAYS goes a lot better when someone helps.
3. Gloves are VERY useful in the winter [Emily]
4. You CAN still break something playing touch rugby. LOL. Even if it's just a finger.
5. Time differences SUCK even more than I previously thought.
6. Girlfriends read EVERYTHING. Learning to be more careful and discreet.
7. If I get tonsilitis one more time in the next 4 months, out they come :S
8. Always have a backup in case your Creative Zen [or similiar] go wonky on the train ride to uni.

Cold All Over Again

Back in Melbourne once again. And of course coming from the freaking HOT city that is Dubai, I'm FREEZING. Not so much when I'm inside but jeez, when I step outside, I feel like my nose is about to fall off. To make things MUCH better, I went up to Mount Buller with the auntie, uncle & cousins. And it was -2 degrees. So much snow everywhere. About 10 minutes after we got to the top, it started to snow!! DO YOU KNOW EXCITED I WAS!!!!! Sure, I've been up in the snow a few times, but I've never been there when it was actually snowing!

Half an hour later, my excitement for snow had died. Because of one thing = WIND. When wind and snow mix, it feels like a million little tiny bullets are shooting at your face. It hurts ok. I got tiny little scratches on my cheek and on my hand [i have no clue how i got the one on my hand since I had gloves on, but DEF a snow cut]. AND YES, snowflakes are able to inflict cuts and pain upon people. First hand experience here. Also, the entire time, my face felt a bit like it had botox injected all over it. Well, what I think botox probably feels like. Then once you go inside, your cheeks and face start to thaw...AND TINGLE. Not pleasant tingling, tingling thats on the verge of pain.

The past couple of days have been just a dream.
Today it's Musa's birthday. The 14th of May. Today he turns a year older. But for us, his birthday celebration started last night. We decided since today was a day that he should spend with friends, we would have dinner last night.

So off we went to Atlantis. I treated him to dinner since it was after all his birthday. We both got nice and dressed up, and for the first time I successfully curled my own hair (be proud em, be proud). On the way, I blindfolded him, with his own tie because I forgot the blindfold. When we got onto Palm Jumeirah, he took the blindfold off and it took him about 5 mins to realize where we were, and got really excited. Anyway, we had an amazing dinner. Stuffed. I could barely move after that. The whole time we were eating we just had so much fun. And I couldn't stop thinking how lucky I was.

Two hours and ALOT of food later, we met up with a few people to celebrate something else. Not the point of this post of course. And totally confidential. LOL. At midnight, he turned a year older. Everyone sang for him. And he got a few kisses from me. We were in public. Not very big PDA people. Just after midnight I drove him to a friend's place to stay over.

This morning we met up, had breakfast with Ramizah, Sandra and Al Hassan (whose birthday it also was today! ). Mugg & Bean. AMAZING breakfast. Amazing and HUGE. But it was nice. The birthday boys got a slice of cheescake and we all stuffed their faces.

The rest of the day him & I just spent together. We were meant to go to the beach with everyone else, but plans got changed. And he was already at my place, we both crashed on the couches downstairs. My mum thought we'd both died coz we were so silent. Then he went home.

Baby, I hope you enjoyed yesterday & today. I know at least you were full ALL THE TIME :P

So much has happened in the past few weeks. Good mostly. The couple weird/mind fuck moments. But other than that. GOOD :D

So we've got the month of May now. Bout halfway. First and foremost:
This time last year we'd just started talking after a month of MIA-ness. And we were closer then ever. But this day had to be spent with both of us on either side of the world. This year however, I got to sit in the sweltering heat in a dress, heat so hot I was sweating at the back of my knees. Not good sweating people. BAD sweating. But we all sucked it up. I got to spend the whole day and night with this special person. And the whole of the next day. In a KFC, his car, on highways, many many petrol stations and a water theme park! But it was all worth it. Because this day only comes around once in this boy/man's life. And this is day is the day he turns...wait for it...24! LOL. You've been there every step of the past year and a half we've known each other. Met in the most random of circumstances, fought, screamed, laughed - SHITLOADS -, shisha-ed, huggie-d, session-ed. We've done it all haven't we hun? This is all a week overdue, but in my defense I spent the first two days of the new year with you. SOOO...

A little rant

So I'm sitting at my table praying and hoping my two little angels wont die. I've just changed most of their water, done all by the book. So now it's all just a waiting game. Every morning I wake up and the first thing I do is check on them. Every time I walk into my room I check on them. A little taste of what having my own children would be like?

But it's good. Taking care of them is taking my mind of other things that I've been fretting about the past month or so. Although I sleep fine, I still wake up with a thousand questions and thoughts in my mind. And it really feels like I haven't slept at all. Fear and worry have pretty much taken up as much space as they can find up there. I keep trying to push them out, I do. But to no avail. This then leads to frustration. And just when I think frustration is something I can live with, the sadness and reality seep back in. Back to square one.

I apologise to my friends who have been getting more and more frustrated with my disappearance and hermit-ness. But its the kind of situation where you really don't know who to ask help from or to seek comfort in. Those who already know are too far away to console and comfort. Sure, the internet helps but a hug from a friend can never be replaced. I'm not ignoring you guys. I'm just trying to figure things out and I know I should be reaching out to you, but I dont know how. For many reasons. I miss you guys to bits! I really do.

We always say that we'd rather know than not. And in this situation I would be DAMN pissed off if I didnt know, but at the same time having the knowledge of the inevitable hurts. Alot. They always say pain makes you stronger. Let's see how this works out then...

Road Trip

So today, we're going on a roadtrip. The man and I are going with Ramizah's friends. A kinda belated birthday celebration for Anissa. To Umm Al Quwain. Staying overnight at a chalet. Really didn't think the parents would be ok with it, but they were convinced at the end. So yay! ROAD TRIP! It's about 10ish people. So it should be fun!! Nothing planned when we get there really, just to chill. I was quite surprised they asked me to come along, I thought Ramizah would've wanted time alone with her friends. But they're all cool, so I was quite happy to accept the invite. And it's a good thing this trip. Gets me away from all the craziness even if its just for a day. Lets me regroup my thoughts and simply enjoy a day and a night with the sister!

A silver lining

Went to the beach today. With the family and Kak Rayne & co. Crap loads of fun. Went for a ride on the swings, haven't done that in a while. Today was probably the first chilled out day by the beach I've had. Made me quite happy.

The past few weeks, I've been going through abit of an emotional rollercoaster. I've learned alot even though the whole experience isn't something I'd like to repeat. Trust is one of the most important things in a relationship with someone [not just the lovey kind, im talking about any kind of relationship - friendships, family]. When I was younger, trusting someone was the easiest thing on the planet, and one day that I was stripped of that privelage. But over the past few years, I've learned that only by trusting someone can you truly experience a relationship. So I started to trust again. It wasn't easy. Not at all. I though though I had finally succeeded in fully trusting the people around me. And just as I was starting to believe that, all the powers in the world combined and proved me wrong.

The pain I felt when that happened was unbelievable. The pain, the anger, the humiliation. It took me days to even absorb that something like this had happened. To think that someone I considered a close friend could do such a thing. Once I had come to terms with it and thought nothing worse could happen, it did. And THIS was the worst thing that could have happened. I was shocked. Someone I had trusted with every little detail of my life, counted on for so long and for so many things, someone so close to my heart. How could you? You're supposed to protect me just like you protected me from so many other things. Things that I really didn't need protecting from. This, THIS I needed you to protect me. And what did you do? The complete opposite. I've never in my life felt so betrayed.

I've missed all my friends back in Melbourne. The routine of going back is now broken. Everytime I think of them it makes me tear a little. Most of all, I miss Aisha. We may not be able to find a solution to any of this but at least her presence would make me feel tons better.

But I have you, dont I? You're always there for me. Through this psychotic turn of events. When my mood swings go into full gear. You've always been there to hold me, to listen to me go on and on about how idiotic all of this is, how fucked up everything is. You care and love me like nothing I've ever felt before. You make me feel safe. Even when I'm mad at you, I crave you. Just to sit in your arms. To feel for a moment that everything is right in the world. That's what you do. Because I don't think I say it enough, I love you.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I cant believe its already 2009. What. The. Crap. I swear it feels like I just graduated last year. In actual fact, that was almost 3 years ago. Gross.

With most new years, I always make resolutions. As most other people, out of the 10 that I make, 2 will come true if I'm lucky. Lol. So this year, my only resolution is to be happier and live life with a smile on my face. So far so good. I don't want anything from last year to repeat. I'm going to look for that silver lining all the time.

Its been 8 days now since 2008 turned a year older. And honestly, I've been quite happy. There have been glitches obviously, but I'm just moving on. Trying not to let those things affect me.
And finally, things are starting to look up. Way up. I haven't gone a minute without a smile on my face the past couple of days. It's all thanks to you.

When I need you, you're not here. But it's not your fault. I know how much you want to be here. You know how much I need you here with me. I miss you so much its unbelievable. Because you're not here, this is the only way I can let it all out. There isn't anyone here who compares to you.

I've never felt so much pain. Honestly. But what did I expect right? I mean really, at the back of my mind, I knew it would end this way. So why am I still so upset? Why can't I stop crying? Why can't I think of anything else?

I thought I'd be ok, I thought I'd already prepared myself for this. So why is it so much worse? Maybe because finally it's officially over. Maybe because even the slightest hope is now gone. Maybe because I now realise that I've been lying to myself all this time. Allowing myself to believe things that really weren't there. Letting myself fall into that stupid well of hope. Telling myself that 'maybe one day...' when really one day never existed in the first place. But honestly, I don't know.

I need you here to tell me why this is all happening. I need you to sit and comfort me. I need you to just be that person I always turn to when anything happens. Simply, I just need you here with me. There are other people around, people who I'm thankful for. But they don't know me like you do. They aren't you.

Come back soon. Come back so I have you in my life again. Come back so in times like this I have you near. Come back so I have someone to cry with, someone to give me a hug, to lie down with me for hours doing nothing but taking in the comfort that you're next to me. A little birthday wish

Ok so I know technically, its the next day. But the internet messed up yesterday, so I can only do this now.

On the 14th November, my love turned a year older. Yes, you got that right. This post is dedicated to that one amazing individual we all know as Rosa Martorana! Rosa, my darling, HAPPYYY BIRTHDAYYY!!! I know you aren't as old as the rest of us, but you did turn a WHOLE year older.

I'm so sorry I wasn't there to celebrate with you! But I'm sure you had a ball, maybe not as fantastic had i been there, but a ball nonetheless.

I just wanted to say thank you for being there for me when I needed you. Even from all the way over here. And yes, distance does SUCK big time! Despite that, I still got to wish you twice, although one was more of a wake up call. That by the way, was not my fault, Eb wanted to wish you. We've only been friends a few months, and yet I feel closer to you compared to others. And can I just add....we are AMAZING at keeping in touch! Well, for our first week apart anyway, but that's still something.

So, have an amazing summer (I'm secretly hoping you aren't going to Malaysia next semester) and an incredibulous year ahead!! I miss you more than you can imagine! AND I LOVE YOU FOREVER!!

A Quick One

Because I've been harassed by some people, I'm now updating my blog. But seriously, nothing's been happening. HONEST!

But anyway, just to update people. Been out a few times with the gang. We went to this new cafe, Casa Cafe, twice now, because Eb loves the place. I'm getting acquired. I haven't had hummus or shisha yet. I know. My plans for the holidays are sooo burned. But I've only been back a few days. I think I'll go do both tomorrow. Yes, THATS THE PLAN! Eb and I went to Shu yesterday for a quick dinner. Arabic Food! YUM! It was nice to finally be able to chill with him alone. Don't get me wrong, I love everyone else, but it was nice to be able to properly catch up and chit chat about things that can't be said in front of everyone else. You guys get it.

Yesterday, mummy and us girls went to the tailors to get our clothes made for the wedding in Goa (T-5 days btw!). Kak Diah & I also went for a morning coffee. It's been too long since we'd done that. We celebrated her first day free from the 'clutches of evil'!

Today we're going to Kak Rayne's place, just to chill. I AM IN LOVE WITH BABY YAYA! OMG! She truly is the CUTEST baby in the world. If we get back early enough, I may go with Tony and the rest to Central Perk. And I REALLY need to see Syeila! I've been cancelling! Not on purpose. We were meant to go out yesterday, but then turns out Eb had the car and my sister needed ours. But Syeila love, tonight or tomorrow! I PROMISE!

Oh, also, there aren't going to be pictures for awhile, since my camera has decided to die on me, and I'm in the process of getting a new one. So in the meantime, live with my beeyouuteeful words instead. LOL.

Nothing beats the feeling

After 15 hours on my ass, entertained by a jolly lolly-giving English man, I finally arrived in Dubai. My light at the end of the tunnel for the past 10 months. It is soo warm. I do appreciate not haivng to wear a jacket everywhere, but it is also nice if there wasn't 300% humidity!!!

BUT! Nothing beats the feeling of being home. My house, my room, my bathroom...everything. I even managed to sneak in a drive although that was a bit risky doing that after having not slept for close to 30 hours.

I did manage to meet up with Silvia and EB. Sil screamed, EB figured it out mostly. But it was all worth it. Met a few more people today, awesome people. So had an AMAZING first day and night back. Can't wait for more!!

Today belongs to a woman who takes up all of my heart and who I will never be able to repay for everything she's done for me. That's right. Today, today my mum turns a year older. And also turns the Big Five Oh. So Mummy Mushu, HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY!!! Thank you for always being there for me. I couldn't ask for anything more. You've loved me regardless of what stupid decision I've made. You're my best friend in the whole world, the one person I tell everything to, even things you don't always want to hear. We laugh together, we cry together, we bitch together...what else can a girl ask for? Even when I'm so far away, you're always there. Even through my crazy phases, my vegetarian phase, my no fast food phase, my no carbs phase; you put up with all of that. In fact, you were probably quite amused. Hehe.

A 'Girls' Night

After a week at the boys' place, we decided we needed a girls' night. And the boys were quite happy about the idea.
So Em & I started off our day with a trip to Vic Market - shopping for everyone back home. Then, we went to get the essentials for the night ahead. With the face masks, nail polish, lavender essential oil & the burning of Yantra incense through the house...we basically sissy-fied the boys in that house. They didn't complain one bit. We're so proud *beams*

So much for keeping my blog constantly updated. Well with the assignments, all-nighters, and exams coming up, I'm a little excused. The past week, Em and I have been living at Jin's place, just because it's more convenient. We'd study until midnight then crash at their place, and do it all over again the next day. Despite all the studying though, we managed to watch my first (and the MOST AMAZING) musical: WICKED at Regent's Theatre.

Yesterday night was another all nighter, literally didn't sleep. I had an assignment to finish off. But it did give me a chance to chat to my lover! I got a message the other day from my mum, "Adek, aisha's leaving on the 3rd with her dad".

And I promise you I teared. It's weird I know. I'm not there anyway, but the thought of going back and not having her there is weird beyond belief. It's like Dubai's going to be empty.
But I wish her all the luck and love in the world on her journey into a new chapter of her life. I'm going to miss her even more than I have everyday that I've been away.

A new discovery!!

Ok the rest of you might think I'm a bit of a retard for not having found out about this earlier. But in my defense... who did I really need to video call?

Yes, thats right, this weekend, I discovered the art of a video calling! Don't you give me those looks!
So I decided to call the one person I hadn't seen in about 10 months and also I was dying to see! [Believe me, with the reactions when he picked up the phone, I can say the feeling was quite mutual] And anyway, I was meant to phone him. So decided to kill 2 birds with one stone!

We spoke for about 2 hours. And the fun we had! SERIOUSLY! We would've webcam-ed earlier except SOME people have Macs and so cant webcam with us normal Windows people. So you can just imagine the excitement! I met the people that were over at his house, his mum too - which made me squeal a little, coz I was SO not expecting to say hi to his mum. He just went: *turns phone* Mum, say hi to Raudhah. I was like *choke* oh hello!
He was finally able to meet my cousins that I keep talking so much about. And were they amused at him being on the phone! And this is what came out of that conversation: -

At 6am, we were both quite tired by then. But neither wanted to put the phone down, so we put the phones on the bed and lay there talking.

So last weekend, and pretty much all of last week, was spent at Jin's place.
Jin - for those who dont already know - is an ex-Farrer soldier boy, who also coincidentally happened to live in Dubai 15 years ago, and whose parents know mine. Small world much?
He has become a rock in my life. Someone there to always turn to. And no matte what the problem, he will always have a way to cheer me up - random youtube vids - and will always be there. This weekend, his friends were added to my list of friends I consider dear to me. They climbed up the list past people I'd known for longer. Well Done Boys!

So after friday night - Emily's 21st bash - we went back to their place and after many hours of chatting, stayed the night. Walked back the next day in my dress, jin's shirt, heels holding my clutch and a plastic bag. Random?! Yes it was. I felt like the whore-from-the-night-before. That night, Ems and I returned to their place for the sake of chilling, and spent the night again, woke up the next day, showered there, went to their football match, had a bbq, then a cake and ice cream celebration for our Mei Li.

Stayed the night AGAIN, and the next day I got up early to go to class. Mon, Tues & Wed were spent in my own room - the one I hadnt seen in over 4 days. Then Thursday night, after studying at the lib, we decided to take a half hour walk to get to McD's, and everyone had gone hyper by then, so we only slept at 5am, I woke up in a stupor 5 hours later to go to my site visit.

And although I didn't get much sleep the whole past week, new friends were made, I realised that even people you would never think of could brighten up your day even without them knowing.

So, here's a BIG THANK YOU [UBER MUCHOS] to the boys who entertained and put up with me! You guys made my week!

When you want to go home

There are always times when you want to go home, especially when home is so far away, when you haven't been back in awhile, when you know people will be missing when you get there, when where you are right now is just not a place you want to be.

This is one of those times.

A time where my heart aches for the people I grew up with, those who were there with me in times of tears and joy, those who'll just hug me when they don't know what to say, those who sit on the phone for hours on end in silence just to make sure I was ok.

I'll be home in about 6 weeks, and yet the closer home gets, the more I yearn to be there.

You all know who you are. I miss you all with all of my heart and soul.
Thank you for all the support, love, hugs and kisses over the years.
My life would be empty without you.

Can't wait to see you.
